IMBIZO 2017

Imbizo is a forum to enhance dialogue and interaction between the Regional Council and all Adult leaders in the Region, also a platform for Scouters to highlight their concerns and grievance; and most importantly finding a way forward.

This event was encouraged by a quick survey that was done by the Regional Council at District and group level.

Since the appointment of the current council we have not yet engaged with the Scouters on the ground to find out what are their achievements and challenges so far, we then took a decision to bring the date a little closer than dated on the Regional calendar.

Will also be a platform for us to prepare for the National Lekgotla.

Over the past few months myself and the RTC Adult Support have been planning on doing district visits but logistically it’s impossible to reach everyone at once, we had the privilege of visiting  Vryburg though, so we thought…why not gather everyone at once and have a mass gathering called Imbizo.

Why do we need this event? Just to mention a few

• To get every ones input

• Discuss challenges and find solutions

• To share ideas and achievements

• Introduce the Regional Strategy Plan (strategy 2020); and get inputs on it

• Reports from both the Management Team and Operational Team

• Discussions  around recent changes

• Way forward

When will this be?

• 7 to 9 July 2017, We hoping everyone will be available, ideally we would like every Group/Unit to be represented by a Scouter in charge.

How will it all play?

• Friday will be focused on the overview of the weekend and networking

• Saturday Morning until around mid-afternoon will be based up on updates from all portfolios, comments and inputs are welcome during this sessions, will be more of discussion than just listening to what we have to say.

• There will be break away sessions as Districts to discuss challenges, were every district will be joined by one or two of the Regional Team members as an observer

• Sunday will be focused mainly around the Strategy 2020

Where will this be?

• Our beautiful Scout Centre

How much will it all cost?

• Regionally we planning on sourcing funding for meals but Scouters will have to cover their transport fee to and from the venue, we have encouraged DCs to try and negotiate fees with the transport owners, especially those that we use most during our camps.

We urge every group/unit to try and send a rep, some of the decisions that will be taken at this forum will affect us all.

See you all at Mahikeng soon.
